In The Aftermath Of An Accident On The Cipularang Toll Road, The Ministry Of Transportation Will Call Goods Transport Entrepreneurs

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation will summon the association of transportation entrepreneurs in the aftermath of an accident at KM 92 Tol Cipularang, West Java a few days ago.

Director General of Land Transportation, Inspector General of Police Risyapudin Nursin said the summoning of the association was a follow-up to address the incident.

"We will immediately gather the entire Association of Goods Transport Entrepreneurs along with all Heads of the Provincial/Regency/City Transportation Service to follow up on this incident and as a mitigation measure for recurring incidents," said Risyapudin in an official statement, Wednesday, November 13.

Not only will Risyapudin summon the association, Risyapudin said that his party will conduct inspections of the Motor Vehicle Periodic Test facility in the Motor Vehicle Periodic Test Implementation Unit in the Jabodetabek area.

"We will work together with the police and the Transportation Service in several locations to further carry out safety inspections on freight transport trucks," he said.

Currently, continued Risyapudin, his party is coordinating and investigating with the Korlantas Polri and the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) to examine the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, based on data obtained from the Land Partner Application, the attached truck with police number B 9440 JIN has a periodic test status which is still valid until March 18, 2025.

"But to find out for sure the cause of the accident as a whole, we are waiting for the results of the investigation from the NTSC," he said.

On the other hand, Risyapudin appealed to transportation companies to ensure that vehicles are properly and according to security standards. In addition, what is no less important is to provide drivers who have official permits and meet competencies.

"If an accident occurs due to the negligence of the driver, he can be subject to legal sanctions or fines in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation," he said.
