JAKARTA - The government has prepared three lands for dairy farming, in order to increase national milk production and support domestic needs through Vietnam's investment. This was conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman.
The Minister of Agriculture said that the Government had prepared land in three locations, namely in Central Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi, as a place for the construction of investment dairy cattle from Vietnam.
"We have visited Poso (Central Sulawesi) together with the TH Group company (Perusahaan adal Vietnam). There is an area of 12 thousand hectares, while in South Sulawesi there are 30 thousand hectares and in Central Kalimantan 50 thousand hectares," said the Minister, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 2.
He said that TH Group is a large Vietnamese company that is ready to support Indonesia in increasing beef and domestic milk production.
"They plan to develop a cattle breeding industry, livestock cultivation, fulfillment of quality feed, distribution, processing, and capacity building of local breeders," he said.
He explained that investment from Vietnam was a follow-up to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in agriculture which was signed on May 19, 2024.
The Minister of Agriculture added that imports of parent cattle are very important to accelerate the availability of milk in the program launched by the President.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, relying on existing mother cows will take longer to achieve self-sufficiency.
"The investment plan from Vietnam with the procurement of around 250 thousand cows will have a major impact on national interests," said the Minister of Agriculture.

The Minister of Agriculture explained that Vietnamese investors are interested in building large-scale dairy farms in Indonesia.
"We continue to try to simplify the process so that they are interested in investing in Indonesia," explained the Minister of Agriculture.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, the import of cattle is part of the government's efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in meat and milk through the procurement of mother cows from abroad.
"This plan also offers opportunities for local and international entrepreneurs to contribute to the free nutritious eating program which is one of the current government's priority agendas," said the Minister of Agriculture.
