Menekraf: Indonesia's Creative Economy Has 17 Extraordinary Developing Subsectors

JAKARTA - Creative Economy Minister/Head of Creative Economy Agency Teuku Riefky Harsya said the creative economy has great potential, especially in terms of economic independence.

"Indonesia's creative economy has 17 sub-sectors that we all know have strength and show extraordinary developments from time to time," Teuku Riefky said in his official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 2.

When meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta, Friday (1/11), Riefky also said that the creative economy could be an important pillar in an effort to achieve national development goals.

This is based on data recorded by the ministry, which found that the export value of Indonesia's creative economy products throughout 2023 reached 23.96 billion US dollars or 88.91 percent of the set target.

As for the added value of the creative economy, it reached Rp1,414.8 trillion or 110.44 percent of the target.

These achievements and potentials then made President Prabowo Subianto specifically place the creative economy within the current structure of the ministry/institutional nomenclature, to encourage the role of the creative economy as an important pillar to achieve the government's Asta Cita, especially in terms of economic independence, job creation, and development of innovation-based economic sectors.

In addition, based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 139 of 2024 concerning the Tasks and Functions of the Ministry of State of the Red and White Cabinet for the period 2024-2029, there are six ministries that are under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment. One of them is the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy.

"With the support and collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment, the creative economy is expected to continue to be a sector that provides great added value to the Indonesian economy," said Riefky.
