JAKARTA - The government will form a special task force or task force for the tourism sector. This task force will focus on developing destinations to regulating domestic aircraft ticket prices.
SOE Minister Erick Thohir said this task force would be formed together with the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar). This includes the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).
"Together with all ranks, we discussed and agreed to create a joint Project Management Officer (PMO) team to ensure that our collaboration continues to be improved," he said at the BUMN Ministry Office, Jakarta, Thursday, October 31.
Erick said the formation of the PMO team or the task force team was also in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction. He said Prabowo wanted tourism to contribute to the national economy to continue to increase.
Furthermore, Erick targets the formation of this tourism sector task force team to be completed within the next two weeks.
"Maybe in 1 or 2 weeks, God willing, the team will be formed later, and it will begin to be able to review all policies or derivatives of policies so that they can be implemented properly," he said.
Through this task force, Erick said, the Ministry of SOEs will integrate all components of the tourism sector involving state-owned companies. Starting from tourist destinations, infrastructure, hospitality, to transportation.
"We continue to integrate all components that we can do together, whether it's transportation integration, or infrastructure to support this success, airports (airports), planes, hotels, tourist destinations, and others," he explained.
According to Erick, the development of the tourism sector requires synergy between various parties and across ministries. This includes the high price of domestic aircraft tickets that are complained about.
Erick also hopes that the task force team can produce solutions to overcome various problems in the tourism sector.

"In the past, talking about the task force or PMO, the goal is the same, to harmonize all policies into a decision that can provide solutions, including regarding ticket prices, because it is impossible for us to work alone," added Erick.
Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said the Ministry of Tourism will continue to increase collaboration with SOEs to boost the development of the tourism sector in the next five years.
The woman who is familiarly called Widi hopes that more and more regions in Indonesia will become tourist destinations.
"Of course we will increase this collaboration for other tourist areas. Later our team will continue to work together to discuss other technical matters," said Widiyanti.
