JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation held a Cross-Ministerial Coordination Meeting/Institutions to prepare plans for the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year transportation operations.

Director General of Land Transportation, Inspector General of Police Risyapudin Nursin said this coordination meeting was needed as a consideration for policies during the Christmas and New Year 2024/2025 holidays.

According to Risyapudin, with this coordination meeting, it is hoped that information updates from each stakeholder can be obtained regarding their readiness to welcome this Christmas and New Year holiday.

"It is important to coordinate, synergize, collaborate and cohesiveness between stakeholders in realizing safe and satisfying holidays," he said in an official statement, Thursday, October 24.

Risyapudin emphasized that there are several things that need to be anticipated, such as which roads from Jakarta to Ketapang-Gilimanuk Port which cause congestion or congestion.

"Is the cause because of the density in the rest area, certain points have bottlenecks or crossings, it could also be congestion at the gate or exit of the toll road," he said.

In order to support the Vision and Mission of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, he continued, the implementation of Christmas and New Year's transportation operations is a humanitarian activity that is included in the 100-day program of the land transportation sector (Quick Win), thorough preparation is needed.

"What we have to prioritize is to minimize accidents and large numbers from accident victims. This is in accordance with the mandate of the law, of course we must interpret it deeply," he added.

Meanwhile, the Director of Road Traffic Ahmad Yani explained that during the Christmas and New Year's operations, 113 type A terminals and 32,120 buses consisting of AKAP buses, AJAP buses and rentals and tourism transportation that can be used by people who want to take a vacation.

Then, there are 11 crossings that are the focus of national monitoring consisting of 21 ferry ports, 149 ships, and 44 dock units.

"This year, AtMS devices have also been built at 21 intersections and 12 roads spread across Karawang, Indramayu, Cianjur, Cirebon, Brebes, Banyumas, Cilacap, Kebumen, Purworejo and Yogyakarta areas. So that later traffic conditions can be monitored properly, especially if congestion occurs," he said.

Ahmad Yani said his party would also conduct safety inspections through a rampcheck of public transport vehicles with a target of 10,000 vehicles which will start from November 6 to December 20, 2024 at Type A Terminals in collaboration with the Land Transportation Management Center and also the local Transportation Service.

"What needs to be considered at the Nataru holiday moment is especially the arrangement for tourist areas such as one way, contraflow, odd-even, area closure when meeting capacity and so on," he said.

Yani hopes that with this coordination meeting, a formulation of the right operation plan will be found in order to create a memorable and safe Christmas and New Year holidays.
