JAKARTA - The Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that it is ready to provide Biskita services in Tangerang City, Banten, to support the accessibility of the local community.

"After Bogor City, Bekasi, Depok and Bekasi Regency, the Ministry of Transportation through the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency immediately presented Biskita services in Tangerang City," said Acting Head of BPTJ Suharto as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, October 19.

Suharto stated that his party had signed with the Acting Mayor of Tangerang Nurdin at the Tangerang City Government Center building, Friday, October 18 to provide the land transportation mode service.

He conveyed that Biskita would later serve areas that had not been connected and strengthened existing services in Tangerang City.

Suharto said that previously in Tangerang City, mass public transportation had been provided earlier through the Trans Tangerang BRT or commonly known as Tayo.

"Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for the concrete steps to support the provision of mass transportation services in Tangerang City," Suharto explained.

Furthermore, Suharto said that the effort was in line with Law Number 22 of 2009 which mandated that local governments be required to provide safe and comfortable public transportation services.

"Tangerang already has 4 BRT corridors and its supply is managed independently through the APBD. I hope this becomes a reference and a barometer for other cities to be able to provide transportation services in their regions independently", Suharto explained.

Suharto also hopes that with the presence of Biskita, the implementation of mass transportation will be stronger if it is integrated with other transportation, including Trans Tangerang.

"This mutual agreement is a concrete step by BPTJ to integrate mass public transportation services. Not only in Tangerang, in the future BPTJ will continue to strive to integrate services both in payment but physically in Jabodetabek," added Suharto.

Meanwhile, Tangerang Mayor Nurdin expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Transportation through BPTJ which has provided support in providing Biskita services.

"The city of Tangerang is lucky to be in the Jabodetabek area and become one unit with other areas," said Nurdin.

Nurdin emphasized that Tangerang City cannot solve transportation problems on its own, no matter how strong the local government is.

"Therefore, it is necessary to integrate between the central government, the Jakarta Special Region, and the Tangerang City Government", said Nurdin.

Not only providing services, but the growth of private vehicles faster than the road capacity has also received special attention.

"With Biskita's presence, we hope to unravel the congestion point and be a solution to the transportation problem in Tangerang City," explained Nurdin.

Nurdin also said that with Biskita, who will soon operate, it would break the concern that Tangerang City would be abandoned.

"We are optimistic that Tangerang City will become an integrated city and have a better mass public transportation service in the future," explained Nurdin.

After the signing of the agreement, a follow-up MoU will soon be carried out to determine the route. Biskita in Tangerang City is planned to connect with transportation service nodes such as stations and terminals.
