JAKARTA - The chaotic government coup election result in Myanmar has not affected the business of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (KLBF) in ASEAN countries. Currently, the construction of a factory in Myanmar has also been completed.

For your information, this pharmaceutical company owned by conglomerate Boenjamin Setiawan has invested IDR 283.35 billion through Kalbe Myanmar Company Ltd (KMC). This investment was made to build a pharmaceutical production facility.

Kalbe Farma President Director Vidjongtius explained that his company had started its business in Myanmar 30 years ago. KLBF's long experience in the country's market has made companies accustomed to following the ups and downs of the political situation in Myanmar.

Vidjongtius said Kalbe Farma would not stop their business operations in Myanmar. However, adjusting business activities to local conditions. This is because medicine is an essential requirement for all people in the world, including Myanmar.

According to Vidjongtius, KLBF has prepared a strategy to compensate for the impact of the current situation in Myanmar.

"For the time being, we will divert our export activities to other ASEAN countries", he said.

Previously, Vidjongtius hoped that the contribution of KLBF's export sales could grow by 6 percent to 8 percent with the addition of a new factory in Myanmar.

For your information, until the third quarter of 2020 KLBF recorded export sales of up to IDR 859.49 billion. This amount increased from the same period the previous year which was recorded at IDR 945.52 billion. The total KLBF sales during the first nine months of 2020 reached IDR 17.10 trillion.
