JAKARTA - InJourney Airports has prepared three main supporting airports for the Indonesian MotoGP event.

Especially for Lombok International Airport, it will operate 24 hours to accommodate the high flight ahead of the MotoGP event.

MotoGP Indonesia will be held this week, precisely from 27 to 29 September 2024 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi said as many as 37 InJourney Airports support the success of MotoGP, where three airports are the main supporters, namely Lombok International Airport, Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Tangerang Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Faik said that currently his party had received additional flight requests or extra flight of more than 70 flights from four airlines.

"There has been a request for 74 additional flights (extra flights) from 4 national airlines from September 22 to October 1, 2024," he said.

Furthermore, Faik said the request for additional flights is in line with the number of MotoGP spectators, which is estimated to reach 130,000 people from various cities in Indonesia and abroad.

"InJourney Airports collaborates with stakeholders including airlines to ensure flight connectivity and the availability of airplane seats to accommodate the needs of tourists or the Mandalika MotoGP audience," said Faik.

Faik said that the peak of passenger movement itself is estimated to occur on September 29, 2024, with 12,573 passengers or an increase of 23 percent compared to the peak of passenger movement in MotoGP 2023 as many as 10,351 passengers.

"Infrastructure at Lombok International Airport is certain to be ready to serve high flight traffic," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Faik, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali) located not far from Lombok will act as a connecting airport for tourists who want to watch MotoGP.

"From Bali, there are direct flights to Lombok operated by a number of airlines, including Citilink, Garuda Indonesia and Wings Air. This airport can also be a place for aircraft parking, if the plane parking capacity is not sufficient at Lombok Airport," he explained.

Faik said Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang) also has an important role in ensuring flight connectivity in supporting the MotoGP event in Lombok.

"Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the main door for the country as well as a domestic flight hub," he said.
