Minister Of PUPR Ensures IKN Airport Is Ready To Be Aired By The Presidential Aircraft Next Week

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono who also serves as Acting Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) ensures that the airport of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) can accommodate the presidential plane next week.

Basuki said that during his visit to IKN on Monday, early last week, IKN airport could accommodate CASA aircraft, while on Wednesday, he used a Hercules plane.

"Okay, today's airport will start to be based on and accommodated with RJ85. Yesterday with Hercules, everything was okay. Today with RJ85. Hopefully the results are good," he told the media crew when met at the PUPR Ministry Building, Saturday, September 21.

Because it was already based on a Hercules aircraft, he ensured that the presidential plane carrying Jokowi was able to land smoothly at IKn Airport.

"It's possible. If there is RJ85, he says it's lighter than Hercules," continued Basuki.

Previously, it was reported that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had wanted to land at the new airport in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan on Thursday, September 12 to chair a cabinet meeting.

Jokowi's desire ran aground because he still had to wait for IKN airport to test the landing and take off with the plane the same size as the presidential plane.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi ensured that Nusantara Capital Airport (IKN), in East Kalimantan, could land the presidential plane in September 2024.

This target is in line with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)'s plan to move to IKN in September 2024. As is known, Jokowi's own tenure will end on October 20.
