JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir officially launched a new building owned by PT Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, namely Mandiri Digital Tower. The building will become a digitalization center or information technology (IT) of Bank Mandiri.

Erick said that the 32-story building is a form of Bank Mandiri's digital transformation commitment in facing challenges in the technological era.

According to Erick, currently world change is quite extreme, where digitalization plays a big role, in good or bad terms. Thus, cybersecurity must be the main shield if Bank Mandiri wants to move forward in the future.

"This cybersecurity really has to be the main shield if Bang Mandiri wants to advance," he said in his remarks at the inauguration of the Mandiri Digital Tower in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 18.

Erick said the standard operating procedures (SOP), management, and talent pools within Bank Mandiri were much better than other state-owned companies.

Even so, Erick encouraged the company to make strategic leaps so that it could become a major player in banking and financial companies in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) in 2032.

"I hope of course with progress, Independent leaps will continue to push, in 2032, this is a Bank Mandir presentation for me, it can lead financial companies in Southeast Asia," he said.

Investment Value Of Independent Digital Tower Capai IDR 1.1 Trillion

Meanwhile, Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi said that the investment value for the construction of the Mandiri Digital Tower building reached IDR 1.1 trillion.

"This is a form of our totality in optimizing information technology as the backbone of future business development and becoming a game changer in this digital era competition," he explained.

Darmawan said the office building covers 32 floors with a total building area of around 70,000 m2, and is equipped with sophisticated facilities such as a 500-capacity auditorium, sports space, food court, and will be equipped with daycare and health clinics.

With a commitment to energy efficiency, the building is equipped with 81 kWp solar panels, Low E glass to minimize energy use, and sensor-based automatic lighting system. In addition, this building is also equipped with Regenerative Drive Lift and Destination Control System (DCS) technology to reduce energy consumption by up to 50 percent.

He said, Mandiri Digital will accommodate approximately 5,000 IT talents owned by the company. Where the activity process in this new office is carried out in stages.

"So Mandiri is a digital transformation starting in October 2021, at which time we only had around, not up to 500 developers were programmed, now we already have around 5,000, the total of our IT team is now almost 5,000, and it is all gradual that everything will move here later, that's from the people side," said Darmawan.

Darmawan said, although it is the center of IT, not all digital equipment is in the building. Such as data centers to aspects related to the disaster recovery center (DRC).

"But of course all the equipment can't be here because there are, for example, data centers, then also those related to the disaster recovery center, they are in several places where we can't expose them, but indeed for digital transformations most of the capacity is here," he said.
