JAKARTA - Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IRGCE) 2024 presents investment potential worth US$3.7 billion (Rp57.02 trillion, exchange rate per Friday (13/9) = Rp15,410) through various cooperation agreements which are planned to be signed during the event.
"We hope that through this event, we can develop various innovations and collaborations that can accelerate the development of geothermal energy in Indonesia," said Head of the IIGCE 2024 Organizing Committee Boyke Bratakusuma in Jakarta, Monday.
He stated that the convention would also showcase various technological innovations, such as Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), and use geothermal for live applications, for example for warming and cooling.
In addition, discussions on funding, policies, and supporting regulations will also be held which are expected to provide concrete solutions to overcome various obstacles to developing geothermal energy at this time.
Boyke said that despite the challenges, there is high optimism that geothermal energy can play an important role in Indonesia's energy transition to a greener future.
He also hopes that the 2024 IIGCE can be an important momentum to accelerate the development of geothermal energy and maximize the existing potential for a more sustainable future.
"IRGCE 2024 will be a strategic meeting point for stakeholders to share views and solutions in formulating the challenges of geothermal development in Indonesia, so that geothermal can later be used to achieve the zero net target by 2060 or sooner," he said as reported by Antara.
