JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) is encouraging the development of scoring credit innovation so that micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can access financing more easily.
In line with that, Coordinating Minister for SMEs Teten Masduki encouraged the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomies) to make policies related to this matter.
Teten said policies to encourage banks to implement scoring credit.
According to him, if you still apply the old credit distribution model, MSME players are still difficult to obtain financing.
"For example, if the bank in disbursing its credit still uses credit history, MSMEs don't have assets, they don't have collateral. That's right, we ask the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Airlangga Hartarto) to immediately make a policy that KUR channeling banks must use innovative credit scoring. That's okay, please, because the government has a program," said Teten, quoted on Thursday, September 12.
According to Teten, currently the development of credit scoring is quite good.
He said the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) would take the issue to a meeting with the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK).
In addition, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has also prepared its infrastructure. According to Teten, currently there are 17 companies that have proposed the program.
The credit scoring is an assessment system for business actors or MSMEs who want to get a loan or KUR without having to include collateral or collateral to credit distributors.
With this scheme, there are additional data that are a consideration factor, such as telephone and electricity. Teten is also optimistic that with the addition of the two data, more and more MSME actors will get access to financing.
"The Minister of Finance (Sri Mulyani) promised to take this to the KSSK meeting. OJK has agreed in principle and prepared the infrastructure. So, now a new business license has been opened to innovative credit scoring. Later, this will prepare a scoring at MSMEs that are eligible to receive credit or not," he said.
