Pessimistic Oil And Gas SKK Boss Lifting Target Of 1 Million Barrels Per Day Reached In 2030

JAKARTA - Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Dwi Soetjipto is pessimistic that the oil lifting target of 1 million barrels per day (BOPD) in 2030 will be achieved.

He said the long term plan of 1 million bopd and 12 bcf gas had actually been prepared since 2019 and his party had a number of strategies to achieve this target. However, on its way, the efforts made by the KKKS together with SKK Migas must face the COVID-19 pandemic which affects all activities in the field.

"Kegiatan lapangan semuanya terganggu, eksplorasi terganggu, harga minyak juga jatuh. Waktu harga minyak jatuh bagaimana kita sulit bisa menarik investor mau mengeluarkan uang dengan harga minyak yang di bawah 20 dolar AS per barrel," ujarnya dalam Laders Forum, Rabu, 11 September.

For this reason, regarding the oil lifting target of 1 million barrels, according to him, it is difficult to achieve by 2030.

"So if you talk about whether this target is realistic or not, for 2030 of course not," continued Dwi.

This is in fact inversely proportional to the many gas fields found during the KKKS exploration after the pandemic. Dwi said, during the past few years his party has managed to contain the rate of decrease in gas lines, even recording an increase or incline of 2 percent. He also said that the decline rate would not occur if production infrastructure development could be carried out more quickly.

"Oil production has actually been more than 20 decline for more than 20 years. But we have reduced the decline by 7 percent to 4 percent. Now there is only 1 percentage of the decline," he concluded.
