JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I and PT Angkasa Pura II officially joined as PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports. The merger of the two airport operators was officially carried out today.

The inauguration of the merger of airport operator companies was carried out directly by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, President Director of InJourney Dony Oskaria, and President Director of InJourney Airports Faik Fahmi.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that with the merger of airport operator companies, it is hoped that all airports in Indonesia can get the same good attention, as can Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Furthermore, Budi said this was also in line with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who encouraged the unity of Indonesia, especially equitable distribution in underdeveloped, outermost, frontier and border areas (3TP).

"Jayapura, Banda Aceh and so on, entering (3TP) must get the same attention as Soetta, because if we don't do that, it will happen," Budi said at the inauguration ceremony at the Sarinah Building, Jakarta, Monday, September 9.

According to Budi, if equality between regions does not occur evenly, it will lead to impairment. If that happens, then the spirit to unite Indonesia will be difficult to do.

On the other hand, Budi hopes that the merger of operators of 37 airports can optimize Indonesia's potential to become a hub.

"I am very proud of Injourney and Angkasa Pura Indonesia. Hopefully we can carry out the task of this country well and become the pride of the nation," he said.

Meanwhile, InJourney President Director Dony Oskaria explained that this merger was carried out with a mature planner and in accordance with the provisions, as well as good governance principles.

Dony also said that in the merger process, synchronization was carried out from operational, commercial, human resources, to information technology (IT).

"In 9 months we brought this process together, so we mapped one by one, we prepared a new SOP (standard operating procedure) according to the standards and directions of the Ministry of Transportation," said Dony.

According to Dony, this merger is also in line with the government's vision to increase domestic connectivity and accessibility which is expected to support economic growth as a whole, as well as increase the competitiveness of the tourism sector in Indonesia.

"This merger has been running smoothly in accordance with the government's objectives to increase Indonesia's aviation and airport sectors to five top global airports operators," he said.
