Government Reveals B40 Begins To Be Implemented January 1, 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) continues to increase the mix of new and renewable energy (EBT) through diesel oil mixing with 40 percent palm oil or B40

The Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eniya Listiani Dewi, confirmed that this renewable energy will begin to be implemented on January 1, 2025.

"For B40, God willing, we can mandate it on January 1, 2025, only four months left, all biofuel business entities (BBN) are preparing," said Eniya to the media, Monday, September 9.

Eniya said that in fact there were several obstacles in the field that hindered the implementation of B40, ranging from feedstock problems to dead BBN companies.

Eniya also said that he often received reports from business entities that complained about the lack of feedstock so that only 23 companies were active, while the rest were no longer operating.

Eniya ensured that he had given permission for a new BBN company that contributed to the success of the B40 program.

That way, he is optimistic that the program can continue in early 2025.

"This will increase so that B40 can be achieved from all points of view, from technical problems, infrastructure, and so on," said Eniya.

For information, from July 2022 to December 2022, road tests for the automotive sector have been carried out using B40 and B30D10 fuels with satisfactory results.

Meanwhile, in July 2024 to December 2024, a non-automotive sector test has been carried out, namely B40 for trains, sea transportation, agricultural machinery, power plants and B40 + B30D10 for heavy equipment and mining machines.
