The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Targets The Bandan Of Nuclear Organizations Formed This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, targets the Nuclear Energy Program for the Implementation Organization (NEPIO) to be formed this year.

Eniya said, later this organization will be the supervisor of the development of the Nuclear Power Plant (PLTN).

"Next week we will commit to the IAEA, in Vienna, that we will form a NEPIO," Eniya said in Media Gathering in Jakarta, Monday, September 9.

Eniya explained that later this organization will be chaired directly by the President. This organization will also have a working group (pokja) that will identify the site planning and construction of PLTN, security, legal issues and so on.

"It's my job to be able to present NEPIO as soon as this. God willing, this year if we have a statement in the IAEA then we will continue to construct NEPIO like what," continued Eniya.

He said that the formation of NEPIO is not an obligation for countries that want to have PLTN, but this is important for Indonesia because the development of PLTN will take quite a long time and will not be completed in 1 government period.

"Development will definitely take a period of not 1 period, yes, but 2 periods, yes, at least just entered the grid in 2032. So it will still be 9 years in the future," said Eniya.

Eniya also has not explained where the first PLTN site is located in Indonesia. However, he confirmed that currently his party is still discussing it.

"Nuklir masuk di tahun 2032. Sebanyak 250 megawatt. Tapaknya di mana masih dibahas, ya," pungkas Eniya.

Present on the same occasion, Head of the EBTKE Research and Electricity Testing Center, Harris Yahya, emphasized that the existence of NEPIO is really needed in Indonesia because it does not yet have experience in building and operating PLTN.

"Indonesia does need an organization that carries out an integrated escort, now that is what NEPIO needs. The nuclear implementation organization, maybe for the first and second PLTN," concluded Harris.
