The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) revealed that the results of an audit of flight security surveillance conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) showed that Indonesia's aviation security was above the world average.

The audit was carried out through questions (Protocol Questions) and supervision of operations at Soekarno-Hatta Cengkareng Airport and Juanda Airport in Surabaya from June 24 to July 5, 2024.

As a result, continued Kristi, Indonesia's aviation security received an Effective Implementation (EI) of 88.53 percent and was judged to have no critical issues in the field of aviation security or Significant Security Concern (SSec).

Kristi revealed that the achievement of the value of EI 88.53 percent is above the average value of the EI Global Aviation Security Plan (GASEP) in 2027, which is 75 percent.

"This success shows that Indonesia's flight safety performance is very well recognized by the international community. Especially in terms of compliance and implementation of International aviation safety and recommendations," said Kristi Endah Murni in an official statement, Friday, September 6.

The audit conducted by the ICAO team by asking 498 questions (Protocol Questions) which is the main tool of ICAO to assess effective implementation covering nine areas of the USAP Audit.

Starting from Regulatory Framework and the National Civil Aviation Security System (LEG); Training of Aviation Security Personnel (TRG); Quality Control Functions (QCF); Airport Operations (OPS); Aircraft and In Flight Security (IFS); Passenger and Baggage Security (PAX); Cargo, Catering and Mail Security (CGO); Response to Acts of Unlawful Interference (AUI); and Security Aspects of Facility (FAL).

Previously in 2015, ICAO conducted the same audit in Indonesia, namely the Universal Security Audit Program of Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP CMA), and the SUP CMA Limited Scope On-Site Audit of Indonesia in 2017, with an assessment that also exceeded the Effective Implementation Global Aviation Security Plan (GASEP) determined by ICAO.

Kristi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all other parties and stakeholders as well as the public who use air transportation in Indonesia who also contribute to complying with aviation security regulations.

"I really appreciate and thank all levels of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and all parties related to the hope that flight security will always be improved so that in the future flight services will remain safe, safe and comfortable," he explained.
