PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) signed a cooperation contract with PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) for the transportation of liquid natural gas (LNG).

This cooperation contract was signed by PIS I Vice President Gas Ketut Permadi Aryakuumara and PGN Group Head Gas and LNG System Management Tatit Sri Jayendra and witnessed by the Director of Gas, Petrokimia, and PIS New Business Arief Sukmara and PGN Commercial Director Ratih Esti Prihatini.

"Through this collaboration, we hope to build independence in the transportation and distribution of LNG so that it can become more effective at more competitive costs," said Arief Sukmara, Friday, August 6.

Through this strategic partnership, he said, PIS will collaborate with PGN to transport LNG from Donggi skillo Field located in Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi, to the Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU) in Lampung.

This LNG will later be regasified into green energy gas which will then be distributed through the distribution network PGN to consumers.

The LNG cargo transportation volume is in the range of 135,000 m3 or equivalent to 3,159,000 MMBTU. The plan is that the LNG cargo will be transported using an Indonesian-flagged ship which is a special ship for LNG cargo carriers.

"This collaboration is a step forward for PIS to continue to develop the LNG business portfolio. With adequate infrastructure and fleets, we hope that in the future PIS can continue to be a major player in the LNG transportation business in the national market, and be at the forefront of the international market," concluded Arief.
