BPS Reveals Papua Provinces Of Mountains And North Sulawesi Donate Largest Inflation

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that year on year (yoy) inflation in August 2024 was 2.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index (IHK) of 106.06.

"The highest annual provincial inflation occurred in the Papua Mountains Province at 5.05 percent," Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics (BPS) Pudji Ismartini said at a press conference, Monday, September 2.

Furthermore, followed by North Sulawesi Province at 4.29 percent, Riau Islands Province at 2.64 percent, Banten Province at 2.45 percent, Bali Province at 2.32 percent, and East Kalimantan Province at 2.13 percent.

Meanwhile, the lowest inflation occurred in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands at 1.02 percent, Papua Province at 1.03 percent, and East Nusa Tenggara at 1.22 percent.

Furthermore, Central Kalimantan Province was 1.29 percent, Central Java Province was 1.77 percent and West Sulawesi Province was 1.59 percent.

For information, monthly, there was deflation in August 2024 which was recorded at 0.03 percent on a monthly basis or month to month (mom) or lower than in June 2024 of 0.18 percent. Meanwhile, inflation in the calendar year or year to date (ytd) is 0.87 percent.

Meanwhile, the highest monthly provincial inflation occurred in West Papua Province at 0.31 percent, Bangka Belitung Islands Province at 0.23 percent and East Kalimantan Province at 0.12 percent.

Furthermore, followed by Bali Province at 0.10 percent, West Java Province at 0.07 percent and North Sulawesi and South Sulawesi Provinces at 0.04 percent.

Meanwhile, the lowest inflation occurred in Central Kalimantan Province at 0.39 percent, Maluku Province at 0.34 percent and Southeast Sulawesi Province at 0.27 percent.

Then followed by Riau Province at 0.27 percent, East Nusa Tenggara Province at 0.25 percent and East Java Province at 0.07 percent.
