Realize Commitment With The Halteng Regency Government, IWIP Improves National Roads

JAKARTA - Weda Bay Project's commitment to supporting the development of public infrastructure in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku continues. Currently, PT Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) and PT Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) are making national road improvements in Lukulamo Village. The road work is proof of the synergy and spirit of cooperation between the company and the Halteng Government in order to realize adequate infrastructure in the area around the company.

The road work is one of a number of commitments that have been agreed between the Weda Bay Project and the Halteng Regency Government regarding the Handling of Flood Posts and General Infrastructure Development in Central Weda and North Weda. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Acting Regent of Central Halmahera, Ikram Malan Sangaji and Vice President of PT IWIP, Kevin He, Saturday 17 August.

Based on the planning report, the national road segment in Lukulamo Village was repaired along 421 meters. The repair was at the same time with widening and concrete. Weda Bay Project also built a sewer on both sides of the road with a total length of 842 meters. Lokulamo Village is a flood-affected village that causes major damage to the national road.

The project also aims to improve the smooth distribution of goods and services, as well as facilitate community mobility. The condition of the road has long been complained of by motorists and the community in the area. The condition of the road that has holes and the absence of drainage deserves to make the road always flooded every rainy season.

Ginano's Katamsi, IWIP External Relations Manager, said the work was planned to be completed in mid-September.

"We understand the difficulties experienced by the community around Weda Bay Project, so this work is one of the company's priorities," he said, in a written statement, Friday, August 30.

The improvement of the national road is also coordinated with the North Maluku Province National Road Hall. Furthermore, the company is also involved in other projects such as road repairs, waterways, and bridges along the Lukulamo Village section to Lelilef Sawai Village, the construction of bund wall on the Tabalik road section, and the construction of Water Intake and Water Treatment Plant (WTP) which will serve clean water needs starting from Weda Hingg Weda Utara.

General Manager of HSE IWIP, as well as Head of WBN Mining Engineering, Iwan Kurniawan gave his appreciation to the government and the Halteng community in particular, and the Government and the people of North Maluku who have supported the company's operations and business, so that various collaborations that aim for the benefit of the community can be realized.
