JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) conducted an early retirement program for 1,008 employees throughout the first semester of 2024. This is done as a form of efficiency and encourages digital talent.

Telkom's Director of Finance and Risk Management Heri Supriadi conveyed that the company's profit before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) decreased slightly due to the initiation of the Early Pension program which was attended by approximately 1,008 Telkom employees in the first half of 2024.

"It is hoped that with this program, Telkom will become a leaner company and increase digital talent, so that it will have a positive impact on the company's efficiency and productivity," he explained in the public Expose Live 2024 which took place online, Monday, August 26.

Heri explained that by issuing calculations of the Early Pension program, EBITDA normalization grew 1.9 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) of IDR 39.1 trillion with an EBITDA margin of 51.9 percent.

Even so, Heri said that the early retirement program that had been implemented in the first semester of 2024 would not continue in the second semester of 2024.

"So far, we have not planned an early retirement program in the second semester of 2024. The early retirement program is our strategy in controlling competence in Telkom and providing space for relevant talents for future business development," he said.

Meanwhile, the company recorded an operating net profit of IDR 13.0 trillion or grew 4.2 percent (yoy) with a margin of 17.3 percent. In terms of the company's expenses, there was a decrease in marketing costs by 5.1 percent (yoy) to IDR 1.6 trillion.

Meanwhile, the increase in Operating Burden, Maintenance, & Telecommunication Services can be controlled and grown under revenue growth. The increase in expenses is also driven by the increase in Interconnection burdens, which is in line with the growth in voice hubbing interconnection revenue.

Furthermore, the Wholesale and International Segments recorded revenues of Rp9.2 trillion or grew 13.1 percent (yoy) with contributions from the international wholesale voice and digital infrastructure business.
