Entrepreneurs Refuse To Participate In The Polemic Of The Pilkada Bill, Apindo Boss: We Need Certainty

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) Shinta W Kamdani said that his party respects state institutions related to political decisions and has a position that is neutral in political views and requires more rules or regulations of certainty in doing business.

"What we put forward is the rule of law, and we respect institutions that have their own views. But what is certain for us is that the rule of law that we must put forward and there must be certainty. If business actors see it that way," said Shinta as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 23.

This, according to him, is an important ethics in doing business, especially Apindo has an important task, namely to help so that the business climate in Indonesia can always be conducive and get certainty of business from the state.

"So it's the same as doing business, we are also ethical, of course politics also has art. But Apindo will not enter into the realm of political affairs," he said.

He hopes that the actions of conveying the aspirations of anarchism that had occurred did not affect the climate of doing business and hoped that the delivery of opinions or aspirations by the Indonesian people could be carried out in a conducive manner.

"Our hope is that it will not continue any longer, it has been completed. It is clear which rules will be followed and we can carry out honest elections," he also said.

He also said he was ready to encourage the continuity of the Pilkada to run well according to the rules set by state officials.

As previously, the rules related to the Pilkada requirements became a hot issue that has been rolling today. Indonesian people in various regions were previously reported to have held an oration so that state institutions obey the Constitutional Court's decision and reject the DPR's plan to revise the Pilkada Law.

The Constitutional Court (MK) Tuesday, August 20 decided on two crucial decisions related to the stages of nomination of regional heads, namely Decision Number 60/PUU/XXII/2024 and 70/PUU-XXII/2024.

Decision Number 60/PUU/XXII/2024 changes the threshold for nominating political parties or coalitions of political parties to nominate pairs of candidates for regional heads and candidates for deputy regional heads.

Meanwhile, Decision Number 70/PUU-XXII/2024 confirms that the minimum age limit for regional head candidates is calculated since the determination of candidate pairs by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
