Regarding Fuel Will Be Limited September 1, KESDM: Completed Regulations

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has opened its voice regarding the plan to restrict pertalite type of fuel oil (BBM) which will be carried out starting September 1, 2024.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said the regulation, which is the revision of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 191 of 2014, is still being finalized.

"We are completing the regulations. We will announce it later," said Dadan when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Friday, August 23.

Dadan emphasized that what the government will do is not in the form of restrictions but the distribution of fuel on target in accordance with Pertalite's designation.

This is the same as Dadan's statement the day before which stated that the regulation on the distribution of fuel can be issued in three weeks.

Dadan also did not provide further details regarding the progress of discussing the regulation.

"We are finalizing it in terms of regulations, maybe in 3 weeks it will be finished," he told, Thursday, August 22.

For information, in the previous draft of the limitation criteria proposed based on the engine capacity of the car, where the vehicle entitled to fill Pertalite fuel is for cars below 1,400 cc and for motorbikes below 250 cc.

"Yes, we have the result from the Coordinating Minister's (Economic) meeting, yes, everything has changed there," concluded Dadan.
