The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Airlangga Hartarto in his speech said that the establishment of the Asia Zero Emission Center departed from the spirit of collaboration of all parties and is also a follow-up to the AZEC Leaders Joint Statement which was agreed in December 2023 in Tokyo, Japan.
"Today, we will officially launch the AZEC Center, organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia Area in Jakarta. I hope that the AZEC Center will provide invaluable support to develop roadmaps and inefficient policies to guide our decarbonization and I also urge all AZEC partners to be actively involved," he said in his remarks at the opening of the second AZEC Ministerial Meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 21.
Airlangga explained that this institution will also play an important role in the development of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices in various economic sectors.
Furthermore, by focusing on sustainable development and the zero-emission agenda, it is hoped that the results of studies from this institution can play a role in accelerating cooperation and innovation in the Asian Region.
