Pelindo: Construction Of IKN Dongkrak Tanjung Perak Port Performance Of Up To 14.8 Percent

JAKARTA - General Manager (GM) of Kalimas and Gapura Surya Nusantara (GSN) PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3 Sub-Regional Java, Ana Adiliiya stated that the construction of the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) has boosted the performance of Tanjung Perak Port to 14.8 percent during the first semester of 2024.

"This is influenced by the flow of visits by passenger ships and Ro-Ro as well as the flow of goods which continues to increase until the first semester to reach 14 percent," he said in Surabaya, East Java, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, August 20.

Ana said there was an increase in the volume of logistics shipments for needs to Balikpapan IKN, such as on Wednesday (7/8) and Thursday (8/8), namely the loading of public transportation as many as 70 tourism buses sent to Balikpapan Semayang Port through Tanjung Perak Port.

Based on the trend of ship current volume and goods bound for Balikpapan, the number of RoRo ships to Semayang Port Balikpapan increased from January to June 2024 to 14.8 percent or 5,363 tons per cubic meter compared to last year's 4,360 tons per cubic meter in the same period.

He explained that the average increase in Ro-Ro ships per year reached 17 percent, so that in general it experienced a significant increase because the Ro-Ro ship was the prima donna for passengers and business people because the cost was cheaper, more effective and efficient.

"Because apart from being cheap, it also has a passenger trunk capacity of up to 40 kilograms," he said.

From this data, according to Ana, IKN development also has an impact on the East Java economy through increasing passenger volume and distribution of goods.

Meanwhile, to overcome the increase in the volume of goods and ships flow, Pelindo has prepared several anticipations so that vehicle deliveries can be carried out quickly and do not interfere with operational activities.

This effort is like preparing a mooring facility or buffer area on Line II which must be ensured to be ready according to the planning and readiness of vehicle waiting room facilities (RTK) a maximum of two hours before the ship docks to prevent ship queues.

In addition, coordinating with relevant stakeholders such as Shipping Line, KSOP, Marines team for the readiness of Pandu and Tunda, and mitigating POCC services so that departures are on time so that the operational process runs smoothly.

Meanwhile, the Manager of PT Dharma Lautan Utama (PT DLU) Tanjung Perak Branch Donny Surya said that his party had added one unit of the KM.Dharma Ferry VII ship to anticipate an increase in the number of passengers.

Previously there were only two ships traveling Surabaya-Balikpapan, namely KM.Dharma Kencana V and KM.Dharma Ferry V," he said.
