PHE Supports Energy Resilience With Achievement Of Production Performance

JAKARTA - Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) recorded a brilliant performance in oil and gas production in 2024. This is inseparable from the contribution and hard work of the entire region and subsidiary PHE to support national energy sovereignty and resilience.

Throughout January to June 2024, PHE recorded oil and gas production of 1.05 million BOEPD (equivalent barrels of oil per day), with details of oil production of 556 thousand BOPD (oil barrel per day) and gas production of 2.86 billion SCFD (standard cubic feet per day).

"We are grateful for all these achievements, we also thank all stakeholders who always support the company's operational activities so that they can run smoothly," said PHE Corporate Secretary Arya Dwi Paramita quoting Antara.

Arya explained earlier this year that exploration drilling managed to find new oil and gas resources on drilling the Taloy Orchid Well (AVO)-001 in South Sumatra, the Pinang East (PNE)-1 well in Riau, and the Julang Emas (JLE)-001 well in Central Sulawesi.

Then, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) as the Sumatra Region managed to find a new oil and gas source in the Rokan Block with a production potential of up to 3,000 BOPD (an oil barrel per day). PHR found the new oil and gas source through drilling the Astrea-1 Exploration Well located in the Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau.

Efforts to find and produce oil in the Rokan Working Area (WK) by PHR, one of which is through the Multi Stage Fracture (MSF) horizontal well project in the Kotabatak field, Kampar Regency, Riau.

Through this breakthrough, PHR succeeded in executing the Kotabatak MSF well with production above 500 BOPD. The execution of the horizontal well MSF project has been carried out for approximately three months since April 2024, and has been produced since July 27, 2024.

From the Java Regional, Arya said that Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) optimizes the potential for domestic oil and gas reserves to maintain energy security. One of the strategies, PHE ONWJ reactivated the LES platform.

"The LES platform located off the coast 25 kilometers from Cilamaya, Karawang Regency is estimated to store oil potential of 0.34 Million Stock Tank Barrels (MMSTB) and 24.23 Billion Standard Cubic Feet (BSCF) for gas," said Arya.

Meanwhile, from the Kalimantan Region, said Arya again, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam recently inaugurated three projects in the Mahakam working area (WK). The three projects are the Artificial Lift (Navy), the Peciko 8A and 8B Projects.

"These three projects will contribute to increasing gas production capacity by 36 MMSCFD, oil and concycle by 16,000 BOPD. The production peak expected from the three projects is 11.9 MMSCFD, as well as oil and condensates by 2,025 BOPD," said Arya.

In supporting the energy transition policy to gas, PHE through its subsidiary PT Badak NGL succeeded in innovating at the LNG Bontang Refinery, East Kalimantan, through the LPG Production Booster System (LPBS) program. Through this innovation, Badak LNG has succeeded in increasing LPG production to 323 percent through the LPBS program, so as to reduce national LPG imports.

From Regional 4 Eastern Indonesia, Pertamina EP Donggi Matindok Field officially started drilling the Tedong (TDG)-001 exploration well as part of the Sulawesi Drilling Campaign for Eastern Indonesia Region Subholding Upstream Pertamina.

According to Arya, the drilling campaign held in the Eastern Indonesia Regional area, especially in Sulawesi, is an effort to support new gas production centers.

On the other hand, PT Pertamina Internasional Exploration and Production (PIEP), which is the PHE International Region, expanded by opening a Middle Eastern branch office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on July 2, 2024. Following two other offices abroad that have been operating, namely PT Pertamina Algeria EP in Algeria, and PT Pertamina Malaysia EP in Kuala Lumpur.

In the Middle East, Pertamina has operated in Iraq through ownership of 20 percent of its participation rights in Block West Qurna 1, and has contributed about 70 percent of the total production produced by PIEP. The oil blocks are located in southern Iraq, close to the city of Basra, 400 kilometers southeast of the capital Baghdad.

In early 2024, PHE through PT Pertamina Malaysia Exploration Production (PMEP) together with partners won the auction of the SK510 exploration block through Malaysia Bid Round 2023.

"Investasi di luar negeri untuk mendukung performa financial serta pertumbuhan perusahaan," ujar Arya Dwi Paramita pula.
