Discourse On Permanent Coalition, Democrats Support Prabowo For The Next 5 Years, 2029 Don't Know

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Democratic Party Spokesperson Herzaky Mahendra Putra responded to the discourse of the permanent coalition of Prabowo Subianto's government.

Herzaky said his party fully supports President Prabowo Subianto for the next five years. It's just that for the 2029 presidential election, the Democrats have not made a choice.

"Yes, it is clear, if Mas AHY said that we are of course in the context of Pak Prabowo-Gibran's government, we fully support the next 5 years. This announces our commitment and there will be no shift," said Herzaky, Tuesday, February 25.

"So there is a permanent coalition called or there is no permanent coalition, still our hearts are permanent to Pak Prabowo for the past 5 years. For 2029, of course we have to convene again," he continued.

According to Herzaky, the decision on who the presidential candidate will be promoted by the Democratic Party in the 2029 presidential election must go through a mechanism and be discussed in the Congress held today.

Herzaky agreed with the chairman of the Democratic Party's High Council, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) that the party bearing the Mercy Star symbol will be with Prabowo for the next 10 years. However, he emphasized that support for the 2029 presidential election will still be discussed according to organizational mechanisms.

"Yes, we'll wait for the time. Later, if we say, we support Pak Prabowo 2029, later media friends, journalists, people say, how come we talked about 2029 at the beginning, instead of focusing on helping the people," said Herzaky.

Herzaky explained that so far the Democrats are comfortable in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM). It's just that, he said, Democrats still need the people's votes to make choices in 2029.

"Of course we are comfortable. But if the content of the speech, what is this congress? For the people. So his speech. It is intended for the people," he concluded.
