Viral Money Without Images Of Heroes In Rp100,000, Can BI Replace?

JAKARTA - Social media was enlivened by uploading a video from the tiktok account @by.fencey showing money in a condition that did not have a complete Soekarno-Hatta face image or without a face image of a hero in the front denomination of Rp100,000.

"Yura, I got money that didn't have Soekarno Hatta. What's this for, huh," wrote the account @by.fencey.

The uploaded video shows three sheets of money without a face image of a hero and has serial serial numbers on the denomination.

Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Money Management Department, Marlison Hakim, said that the Rupiah money was included in the category of money whose authenticity was doubtful. Therefore, he appealed to the public to directly visit and ask for clarification directly from Bank Indonesia.

"The Rupiah money is included in the category of money whose authenticity is doubtful. In accordance with Article 29 of the 2011 Currency Law, the public can ask for clarification from Bank Indonesia regarding the Rupiah whose authenticity is doubtful," he explained to VOI, Tuesday, August 13.

Marlison said that if based on the results of the clarification that the Rupiah Money was declared not genuine, then Bank Indonesia would not provide replacement and the original Rupiah Money would be processed in accordance with applicable regulations.

Meanwhile, Marlison explained that if the results of the clarification of the money were declared as the original Rupiah, then in accordance with Article 24 of PBI Number 21/10/PBI/2019 concerning the Management of Rupiah Money, the community would be given a replacement of the nominal value that could be done in the same denomination or other denominations.

Marlison said that if the Rupiah money is declared genuine, it will be categorized as a defective condition or printed Rupiah money whose technical specifications are not in accordance with what has been determined by Bank Indonesia.

"If the public gets Rupiah money with a defective condition, they can clarify it to the Head Office and Bank Indonesia Representative Office throughout Indonesia," he said.

Furthermore, Marlison said that Bank Indonesia continues to educate the public through the Rupiah Love, Proud and Understanding (CBP) program to always take care of every Rupiah money it has to maintain the quality of Rupiah's money well and be easily recognized for its authenticity.
