Heavy Equipment Mobility At IKN Stopped For Preparation August 17

JAKARTA - The mobility of large vehicles and heavy equipment in the capital city of Nusantara has been stopped to prepare for the August 17, 2024 ceremony at the Presidential Palace of IKN.

"It's been Friday (9/8) night at 24.00, it's been closed, activities (heavy vehicles) are prohibited," said Head of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force Danis H. Sumadilaga quoting Antara.

Danis said heavy vehicles carrying construction materials, such as mixer trucks, large iron-carrying trucks, as well as other large vehicles that could disrupt traffic, were temporarily prohibited from operating at IKN until the implementation of the Indonesian Independence Day on August 17 at IKN.

Along with the cessation of the mobility of the large vehicle, said Danis, his party has also started cleaning roads in the IKN area which is covered in construction dust.

"It's being cleaned, it's being 'circed'. Along the road it's being cleaned, it's being washed, doused," said Danis.

According to reports, several road areas in the IKN area are being watered to clean the dust.

Meanwhile, at the State Palace of IKN, the construction of the terrace of the palace and the stands on the court side of the palace is also being completed, so that the proclamation of August 17 ceremony is ready to be used.

The flag-raising exercise was also seen by a joint team at the IKN State Palace field, using a training flag.

Previously, the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said that on August 10, 2024, part of the construction work in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) would be temporarily suspended for the cleaning of the area for the upcoming ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024.

"On August 10, all Paskibraka have moved there. That's why on August 10, I stopped all work, those who need mobility outside the patching plan immediately stopped, because I first cleaned the area," said Basuki in Bogor Regency, West Java, early last July.

Basuki said that this temporary suspension is to ensure that the area used as a place of the ceremony is clean of dust and dirt. However, interior installation work will continue.
