Pursuing The Indonesian Economy Reaches 9 Trillion US Dollars, Airlangga Talks About New Economic Growth Machines

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the government needed a new engine of economic growth in line with the challenges of technological developments in the future, namely through digitalization.

Indonesia's digital economy currently reaches 80 billion US dollars and is projected to continue to increase.

By considering this potential, Airlangga said, efforts are needed to encourage the creation of competent Human Resources (HR) in accordance with the needs of the industry in the future.

"So when we talk about the digital economy, we need to have human resources, so we need more students to be given the opportunity to study at Tsinghua, especially in geopolitical conditions and current artificial intelligence (AI) and AI challenges", said Airlangga in his statement, Sunday, August 4.

According to Airlangga, this is the right time because it has facilities in Kura Kura Bali. In addition, Indonesia is also targeting to become a developed country in 2045.

"At that time, Indonesia was estimated to have around 320 million inhabitants with a per capita income of around US$26,000, so that the Indonesian economy is estimated to reach around US$9 trillion," he said.

Airlangga said that for this reason, quality education centers are needed, especially in the field of innovation and technology, one of which is through Tsinghua University.

By paying attention to this urgency, Airlangga said it was necessary to add a quota of opportunity to study at Tsinghua University for Indonesian students, which is currently only 50 students.

This is so that the program can run more inclusively, especially considering the large population of Indonesia and there is a projection of a demographic bonus in the next few years that needs to be optimized.
