JAKARTA - For motorists who often pass the toll road daily, they must often see the Interchange (SS) on the expressway section.

However, maybe some of them don't understand what the function of constructing the Interchange is.

Quoted from the upload of the Instagram account of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) on Saturday, August 3, the Interchange is a non-field road intersection that was built so that vehicles can move from one road to another without having to stop first.

The following is the function of the Interchange:

1. Liaison between toll roads

The intersection is the main link for toll roads that are on other crossing paths.

For example, the Cikampek Interchange which connects the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and Cipularang Toll Road; Cipayung Interchange which connects the JORR Toll Road with the Jagorawi Toll Road; to the Waru Intersection which connects the Surabaya-Mojokerto Toll Road and the Surabaya-Porong Toll Road.

2. Access in and out of toll roads

Intersection as access to and from toll roads to and from certain areas to facilitate motorists.

For example, the Cibitung Interchange and Karawang Interchange on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

3. Reduce barriers in the main lane

The intersection was created as an alternative for motorists passing on toll roads with smoother flow. As a result, the density on the main route can be reduced.

4. Save travel time

One of the benefits of the toll road intersection is saving travel time.
