Jokowi Asks BI And OJK To Increase Protection In The Digital Economy Sector

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to increase protection in the digital economy sector for the community.

"I ask OJK and BI to increase public protection in the digital economy sector," he explained at the Opening Ceremony of Economic and Digital Finance (FEKDI) X Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) 2024, Thursday, August 1.

According to Jokowi, public protection in the digital economy sector is very much needed because Indonesia's financial literacy rate is still below 50 percent.

"Our financial literacy is still low below 50 percent. People are still vulnerable to the risk of fraud and digital crime," he said.

Therefore, Jokowi conveyed to BI and OJK to prepare a consumer protection system and ensure the security of consumer data.

"Don't let the small people become the disadvantaged parties," he said.

In addition, Jokowi conveyed the need for an inclusive and just digital transformation so that the whole community gets the same opportunity and protection.

"People on the outskirts, lower levels of the economy, micro economy, MSMEs, all must get the same access and opportunity, must get the same protection," he concluded.
