Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya: There Are Two Autonomous Train Series Operated At IKN

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that two series of autonomous trains or Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) were operated in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

"There are three series, two series operated and one series as reserves," said Budi Karya Sumadi in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 31.

He added that currently the series of ARTs that have come to Indonesia is a series of trains.

The ART will rotate from the National Axis, West Sumbu, East Sumbu. The Ministry of Transportation plans to conduct an ART trial at IKN on August 5, 2024.

Budi Karya Sumadi himself hopes that there are domestic private parties who want to cooperate with the Chinese side or buy the ART so that the ART service at IKN can continue with the Buy The Service scheme.

"There is a series of trains (trainsets), then on August 1 there will be one more trainset. Hopefully, it will still exist there, because we will provide fiscal space for 2025 where later the service from our ART will use the Buy The Service scheme. So it's not a manufacturer, but later there will be a private sector, of course from Indonesia who say they are working with the RRC or buying the goods so that they can provide Buy The Service services to the government," he said.

For information, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi has checked and inspected the railless autonomous train at the Kariangau Terminal (KKT) of Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province.

The railless autonomous train (autonomous rail transit/ART) is scheduled to be tested in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), the new capital city of Indonesia which was built in parts of North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

According to the Minister of Transportation, the operational testing of the railless autonomous train in the city of Nusantara is scheduled for August 5, 2024.

The Minister of Transportation checked and inspected three carriages of the railless autonomous train that arrived at the port of the Kariangau container in Balikpapan City since July 27, 2024.

The railless autonomous train has three carriages, namely a front, center carriage and a rear carriage, which contains as many as 200 passengers with cargo for each 75 passengers.
