Increase Competitiveness, Airlangga Encourages More Competitive And Sustainable Industrial Estates

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that facing various challenges to the global economy today and in the future, the Government continues to mitigate through various programs and policies, one of which is by strengthening performance in various sectors including the industrial estate sector.

"In the last 50 years, industrial estates have succeeded in attracting large amounts of investment, creating millions of jobs, and encouraging sustainable economic growth. This contribution is not only felt at the national level, but also at the regions, where industrial areas play a major driver of regional development," he said in his official statement, Friday, July 26.

Airlangga conveyed that with global issues related to the implementation of green and sustainable industries, he also demanded the industrial estate sector to be able to align its growth with environmental sustainability and social progress.

In line with this, Airlangga conveyed that the direction of industrial estate development is currently shifting to a fourth generation industrial area or Smart Eco Industrial Park, which prioritizes sustainable development, circular economy and green industry combined with the application of technology.

"I really understand the importance of increasing investment competitiveness in the midst of increasingly fierce global competition. In this context, industrial estates have a vital role. There are many challenges that must be faced, ranging from trade wars, technological changes, to the need to continue to improve the quality of our human resources," he said.

Therefore, Airlangga invites all stage holders to continue to synergize and work together to support the development of industrial estates through various policies and programs that support a conducive investment climate.

"I believe that with close cooperation between stakeholders, the government, the private sector, and all industry circles, we will be able to create a more competitive and sustainable industrial area," he said.
