Jokowi Asks Golden Visa Indonesia Recipients To Be Strictly Selected, Prevent Risk Of State Losses

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked related ministries/agencies to closely select potential recipients of Golden Visa.

Thus, the implementation of the Golden Visa policy does not pose a risk that is detrimental to the state, ranging from security, money laundering to tax evasion.

The head of state hopes that any party who will receive Golden Visa can go through strict screening or selection. Moreover, said Jokowi, the government wants many recipients of Golden Visa Indonesia.

"(The target recipient of Golden Visa) wants as much as possible, but it was selected. Earlier, right, I emphasized that there should not be people who are not useful to our country entering. We must be selected as strictly as possible," Jokowi said at a press conference for the launch of Golden Visa at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, July 25.

Jokowi admitted that the latest report from the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, stated that until today's launch there were already 300 enthusiasts who wanted to get the Golden Visa.

"And to this day I have asked the Director General of Immigration (Silmy Karim) who has registered 300 people. I am also surprised a lot," he said.

JOkowi emphasized that the launch of Golden Visa aims to attract investment to make it more active in Indonesia.

"This, right, is to facilitate our services to investors and also to global talents who are given the opportunity to come to Indonesia with Golden Visa facilities," he explained.

Jokowi said that the scheme for providing Golden Visa would target two categories, namely individuals to invest at least US$ 350,000 and corporations/companies with a minimum capital injection of up to US$25 million.

He hopes that in the future there will be a lot of money in circulation into Indonesia.

Including, said Jokowi, so that global talent is also enthusiastic about setting foot in the country to work and provide benefits to Indonesia.

"But with a note, I say that everything must be selected as strictly as possible, which we hope will provide as many national benefits as possible, selected," he added.
