Thanks To Digitalization, Pertamina Is Able To Maintain Subsidized Fuel Quota

JAKARTA - Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) senior economist, Tauhid Ahmad assessed that PT Pertamina (Persero) was able to maintain the subsidized fuel quota on target through the system and information technology used by the company.

"Okay. Through information technology, Pertamina can maintain the subsidized fuel quota so that it is right on target. Even though of course, it must still be improved," Tauhid told the media, in Jakarta, Friday, July 19.

Tauhid agrees that the use of information technology can reduce the risk of misuse of subsidized fuel.

This is because Pertamina can confirm which vehicles can buy subsidized fuel plus volume restrictions that can be purchased.

In the future, Tauhid hopes that Pertamina can continue to maintain the subsidized fuel quota and be more targeted.

One of them is through improvements and technological improvements earlier.

Through this effort, continued Tauhid, BUMN energy can further reduce the risk of abuse, including the possibility of misuse of barcodes.

With technological improvement, Tauhid hopes to detect the extent of the distance that has been taken by the subsidized fuel user vehicle.

Then, he continued, whether there was an additional quota of subsidized fuel used or not. That way it can be ascertained that the fuel purchased is for transportation purposes.

"That's why Pertamina still needs to sharpen and improve its technology," said Tauhid.

However, Tauhid considered, it is not enough just to improve the technology. He proposed that the addition of external supervisors be added.

The increase in supervision, he continued, made Pertamina able to further maintain the quota of subsidized fuel and on target.

"This is to improve and complete technology in the field," concluded Tauhid.

Previously, Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati had also revealed Pertamina's efforts to maintain the subsidized fuel quota and to be right on target.

Nicke said, in this effort, among other things, Pertamina uses information technology to monitor the purchase of subsidized fuel at gas stations in real time.

This effort, said Nicke, was carried out through the development of an alert system that sent an exception signal and was monitored directly from the Pertamina command center. Through this system, unusual transaction data such as charging above 200 liters of Solar for one motorized vehicle or subsidized fuel filling to vehicles that do not register the police number (nopol) of their vehicles will be monitored directly by Pertamina.
