KKP Reveals Areas Prone To Smuggling BBL In Indonesia, Here's A List Of Locations

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is still trying to pursue a syndicate of lobster clear seeds or BBL that has the potential to cause losses to the state.

Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) Pung Nugroho Saksono said his party together with other law enforcement officers (APH) continued to carry out raids in places prone to BBL smuggling. These places include BBL collectors, ferry ports or borders with neighboring countries to airports.

"PSDKP is here with other officials to conduct raids in vulnerable locations. Which locations are vulnerable? One, at the BBL collector's place. Then, at the ferry port or border with our neighboring country at the airport. Continue to sea. These are objects where the locations are prone to smuggling," said the man who is familiarly called Ipunk in a press conference related to the Update on the Development of the Lobster Seed Smuggling Case (BBL) at the KKP office, Thursday, July 18.

Ipunk also revealed a number of areas that are also locations for surveillance due to the rampant illegal practices. These areas are spread over several points, such as on the islands of Sumatra to Java. The areas are Lombok, Banyuwangi, Yogyakarta, Cilacap, Tangerang, Bogor, West Java, Palembang, Jambi, Bangka Belitung to the Riau Islands.

He said that his party had thwarted smuggling in several locations, such as Palembang, Cilacap to Batam. Ipunk also emphasized that his party would commit to tightening supervision in several locations.

"Starting from Lombok, then Banyuwangi, Yogyakarta, Cilacap, Tangerang, Bogor, West Java, Palembang, Jambi, Bangka Belitung to the Riau Islands. These are the places where the perpetrators carry out their activities. We have placed our people in these places," he said.

He also emphasized that in the process of eradicating this illegal practice, his party will continue to synergize and collaborate with other APHs, such as the Indonesian Navy to the National Police.

According to Ipunk, the KKP cannot work alone to arrest the syndicate of the BBL smuggling perpetrators. Thus, cooperation is needed with the authorities.

"We are with our Navy friends. Then, with our friends from the National Police. We continue to maintain this synergy because we are facing this BBL smuggler, we cannot do it alone," he concluded.
