Serang City Unemployment Number Reaches 27 Thousand, Fourth Highest In Banten Province

JAKARTA - The unemployment rate in Serang City is fourth highest in Banten Province or at 7.45 percent in 2024.

"Currently, the unemployment rate in Serang City is at 7.45 percent or 27,125 people and is in fourth place in Banten Province," said Head of the Serang City Manpower and Transmigration Office, Moch Poppy Nopriadi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 17.

He admitted that it was still difficult to overcome the problem of unemployment in Serang City due to budget constraints owned by the Serang City Manpower and Transmigration Office and the Serang City Government.

"The limited budget owned by the Serang City Manpower and Transmigration Office and the Serang City Government is one of the causes of the lack of Job Fair and Job recruitment activities being carried out," he said.

Therefore, the Mayor of Serang wishes that at least there will be a new scheme to facilitate job seekers and companies.

In addition to open recruitment and job fair activities that will be carried out, the Serang City Government has also made various efforts to reduce unemployment by organizing activities such as job training and so on.

"There are so many trainings ranging from boga, automotive procedures, wedding makeup training. Only that was when it came to quantity, it was very minimal," he said.

In this job fair activity there are 33 companies, most of the companies are in Serang City, but some are outside such as Tangerang Regency.

"Those who attend and are given a quota of around 450 people and around 150 registrants per day per day," he said.
