OJK: It Is Important For The Community To Have Travel Insurance To Get Protection During Travel

JAKARTA - The Chief Executive of Insurance, Guarantee, and Retirement Supervisory Funds of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Ogi Prastomiyono stated that it is important for the public to have travel insurance in order to get various benefits of protection during travel.

In a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday, July 13, Ogi Prastomiyono stated that these various benefits include repatriation facilities if the beneficiary suffers from severe illness in the middle of the trip to the coverage of loss or theft of baggage.

"These benefits are important for people who travel on tours because they are very much in accordance with the needs of the community," he said, quoted from Antara.

He said that now it has been made easier for people to get these insurance products with many online applications for purchasing air, land and sea transportation tickets, as well as hotels.

Travel insurance products are mostly offered in the form of packages (bundling) with transportation tickets and accommodation.

Ogi said that his party strongly supports increasing public literacy in travel insurance, especially since these protection products support tourism activities which are one of the leading national economic sectors.

"The tourism sector is one of the leading sectors owned by Indonesia, so OJK is very supportive if the community is moved to be able to get travel protection as a representation of increasing financial literacy in the community," he said.

In addition to improving travel insurance performance, he said that his party also supports strengthening the health insurance ecosystem through drafting regulations to improve insurance performance which is expected to be launched in the near future.

"Currently, the repair process is still being carried out by the OJK in collaboration with various parties included in the health insurance ecosystem, the OJK is also preparing regulations that are expected to improve the performance of health insurance," said Ogi.

Although the drafting of the regulation has not been completed, he said that currently in parallel, the process of improving the health insurance ecosystem, such as the implementation of technology and database development, is still ongoing.

"This effort is solely done to maintain the benefits of health insurance consistently to the community," he added.
