JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is targeting a trial of the drinking water network in the IKN Central Government Core Area (KIPP) to be completed on July 17.

Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Planning Task Force Imam Santoso Ernawi said this was in line with the plan to hold a ceremony to commemorate the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at IKN on August 17, 2024.

"Now it is indeed the month of testing and commissioning (trial months) and the most crucial thing is drinking water. Drinking water is now also in the trial process, although it is still stage 1. We are trying this test to stage 3, where stage 3 is approximately 17 (July 2024)," said Imam in a press conference held online, Thursday, July 11.

Imam said that the reason for the drinking water trial was up to three stages, namely to check whether or not the water network system was made.

If it is known that the water network system is not good enough, it can be repaired immediately.

"In this way, we can guarantee that after the test we call the final stage, the minimum we will operate is 150 liters per second. It will definitely meet the drinking water needs for areas that are now operating," he said.

With the water network system supplying 150 liters of drinking water per second, the availability of drinking water at the Independence commemoration ceremony on August 17 will be very sufficient.

"So, the plan is that on July 17, the test and commissioning will be completed. We have the last system, the unit is clean well, drinking water has been transmitted to the reservoir building above the palace, with a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters. That's the quality of drinking water," he concluded.
