Ministry Of Finance Adds Social Assistance Allocation Of IDR 11 Trillion In Semester II 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) will increase the allocation of rice and chicken and eggs social assistance (bansos) by IDR 11 trillion in the second semester.

"The allocation of rice aid and chicken and egg meat assistance will be extended for three months, namely in August, October, and December for payment. This will increase the cost of IDR 11 trillion," said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati during a Working Meeting of the DPR's Budget Agency (Banggar) in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday 9 July.

Throughout the first semester of 2024, the Ministry of Finance has distributed social assistance spending worth IDR 75.8 trillion, growing 3 percent compared to the realization in the same period the previous year.

The increase in social assistance realization was mainly influenced by the increase in the number of recipients and assistance units of the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) in 2024 as well as the distribution of elderly and disabled food aid.

In detail, social assistance expenditures distributed through the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) were recorded at IDR 37.5 trillion for the Family Hope Program (PKH) for 10 million beneficiary families (KPM) and basic food cards for 18.7 million KPM.

Expenditures channeled through the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reached IDR 23.2 trillion, namely in the form of Health Insurance Contribution Assistance Recipients (PBI JKN) for 96.8 million participants.

Social assistance through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) is distributed Rp13.2 trillion for PIP for 8.9 million students and the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) for 769.4 thousand students.

Social assistance through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) is distributed IDR 1.7 trillion for PIP for 1.5 million students and KIP Lectures for 99.86 thousand students.

Finally, social assistance was distributed through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) amounting to Rp200 billion.

Social assistance spending is included in the social protection budget (perlinsos) in the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). The realization of the social welfare budget in the first semester of 2024 reached IDR 176.7 trillion or 35.6 percent of the 2024 APBN ceiling.
