PUPR: Progress To Build Way Apu Dam Maluku Capai 71.34 Percent

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) revealed that the progress of the construction of the Way Apu Dam in Buru Regency, Maluku Province, reached 71.34 percent. PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the management of water resources and irrigation continues to support sustainable agricultural production. The dam construction will be followed by the availability of irrigation networks. Thus the dam that was built can be utilized immediately because the water is confirmed to flow to farmers' fields, ” said Basuki in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, July 2. The Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General of Water Resources continues to build dams and irrigation areas to support the creation of water and food security in various regions in Indonesia. One of them is the construction of the Way Apu Dam in Buru Regency, Maluku Province. The construction of the dam, which has a capacity of 50.05 million m3, has started its contract since December 2017. Until now, the progress of physical construction has reached 71.34 percent. It is targeted that the construction of the Way Apu Dam will be completed in 2024, so that it can immediately provide benefits to the community. The scope of work currently on going includes the work of hoarding the maincofferdam and playing dam, printing precast concrete, concrete spillway, excavating the right slope of the spillway, protection of spillway slopes, and the foundation structure of the right side wing wall. Then, concrete work on the depletion structure next to the wing wall, concrete structure of gated delegation foundations, fabrication of spillway structure, installation of hydromechanical doors, public facility work, and viewpoint work. The dam that dams the Way Apu River is built on an area of approximately 422.08 hectares. The dam has a zonal type of core grade perpendicular to a height of 72 meters, a peak width of 12 meters, a peak length of 490 meters, and an area of inundation reaching 235.10 hectares. The Way Apu Dam is expected to provide benefits for the people of Maluku, especially in terms of the availability of irrigation water covering an area of 10,000 hectares, the availability of raw water with a discharge of 0.5 m3/second, the ability to reduce flooding by 557 m3/second, as a power plant with a capacity of 8 MW capable of lighting around 8,750 houses with a capacity of 900 watts, as well as a tourism place that will grow the regional economy.

The Way Apu Dam was built with a contract value of Rp2.15 trillion which was divided into two work packages. Package 1 in the form of the construction of the main dam worth Rp1.11 trillion was carried out by PT PP-Adhi Karya KSO. Then, package 2 work in the form of the construction of an abundance dam (spillway) worth Rp1.04 trillion was carried out by PT Hutama Karya-Jaya Konstruksi KSO.
