JAKARTA - PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo admitted that he had mapped the need for electricity in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, especially for the commemoration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at IKN, the electricity needed was 1.5 megawatts (MW).

Furthermore, Darmawan said that electricity in IKN is supplied from PLTS IKN which has been operating to supply electricity by 10 MW since February 2024. This capacity will continue to be increased to 50 MW by the end of 2024.

"We make sure that the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration will be fully supplied using green electricity from PLTS IKN," Darmawan said in an official statement, Sunday, June 30.

Darmawan also explained that at the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, PLN will use a 4 layer electricity scheme, for main venues, Beranda Nusantara, Offices for the Central Government Core Area, Airports and VVIP Lodging or VIPs.

In the first layer, he continued, PLN will use Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to ensure reliable electricity without flickering. In the second and third layers, PLN prepares two electricity networks sourced from two different substations. Meanwhile, in the last layer, PLN has also prepared a generator as a supply reserve.

"We have prepared a layered security scheme, so that electricity on the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day will take place reliably," said Darmawan.

Darmawan said that in order to support the use of electric vehicles during the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, PLN has also prepared 16 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) that can be used by state officials, invited guests, and participants of the Indonesian Independence Day commemoration.

PLN also collaborated with Bluebird in providing SPKLU specifically for dozens of shuttle buses to be used by Indonesian anniversary participants at IKN.

"We are ready to all out to succeed in the commemoration of the 79th Indonesian Independence Day at IKN by presenting end-to-end clean energy services," concluded Darmawan.
