JAKARTA - Indonesia with a wealth of natural resources in the form of abundant sunlight, wind, and water is considered to have the potential to become a superpower country of green energy or energy produced in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

"Indonesia has great potential to become a green energy superpower," said Cluster President Schneider Electric Indonesia and Timor Leste Martin Setiawan as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 28.

According to him, proper resource management with sustainable principles, electrification, and the application of digital technology in energy management and automation are important factors in realizing this potential.

He said his party was ready to increase partnerships with the government and industry players in providing digital solutions in energy management and automation to increase efficiency and sustainability.

"We are committed to becoming Indonesia's partner in treading the new dimension of the green electricity sector and the green industry," he said.

Martin also emphasized the commitment to sustainability and circularity as the company's foundation in carrying out its operations, which will continue to be developed in the future.

He gave an example that all Schneider Electric (SE) factories in Batam and Cikarang have transformed into smart factorys with their own technology, and have felt the positive impacts given from this transformation.

The Batam factory has succeeded in reducing 319 thousand kWh/year or 243 tons of CO2/year, reducing 40 percent of waste material, and increasing productivity by 20 percent.

The company has also started switching to clean energy at the Cikarang factory by utilizing solar panels.

By energizing energy consumption and transitioning to clean energy, this factory is able to reduce carbon emissions by 181 tons of CO2 per year (or equivalent to planting 900 trees per year).

"Our goal is to empower everyone to maximize energy and resources, bridge progress and sustainability for everyone," said Martin Setiawan, who has just been appointed as the Cluster President Schneider Electric Indonesia and Timor Leste replacing Roberto Rossi.
