JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia's national airline will fly 7,000 troops of the Indonesian State Army (TNI) for the World Peace Maintenance mission. Thousands of TNI troops will be flown to Lebanon to Congo.
The flight is part of a collaboration between Garuda Indonesia and the TNI in providing flight services for the TNI Task Force on the World Peace Maintenance Mission signed by Garuda Indonesia and the TNI at the Cilangkap TNI Headquarters, East Jakarta on Wednesday, June 19.
The signing of the cooperation agreement is a follow-up to the cooperation that has been carried out by Garuda Indonesia together with the TNI which previously flew peacekeepers to Beirut and Congo in the period from March to May 2024.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that through the cooperation agreement, for the next three years or until 2027, Garuda Indonesia will later provide support for international flight transportation from Jakarta to various airports which are areas of the World Peace Maintenance mission under the auspices of the United Nations.
At least about 7,000 peacekeepers will be assigned include Beirut-Racific Hariri International Airport, Lebanon; Goma International Airport, Democratic Republic of Congo; and Bangui International Airport MPoko, Central African Republic," he said in an official statement, Monday, June 24.
Irfan said that as a national flag carrier, it is Garuda Indonesia's obligation to actively participate in supporting all forms of state missions which also represent Indonesia's important role in creating a better world in the future. One of them is in order to maintain peace for all mankind.
