JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) confirmed that it has completed all issues related to the export license of the copper concentrate owned by PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI).

The Special Staff of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the Acceleration of Mineral and Coal Governance, Irwandy Arif, said that the loss of the export permit was in the hands of the Ministry of Finance.

"From the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, we have done it. So, now we are still in the process of discussing the discharge fee," said Irwandy to the media quoted Monday, June 24.

Irwandy said that the export permit had not yet been issued because there were several things that had not been fulfilled, but he admitted that he did not know for sure what conditions had not been met.

"They said there was still something missing but I don't know which part," he said.

Previously, the government through the Regulation of the Minister of Trade (Permendag) No. 11 of 2024 and the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (Permen ESDM) Number 6 of 2024 had agreed to grant a copper concentrate export permit for Freeport, but until now the SPE has not been ratified.

President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) Tony Wenas revealed that until now the government has not issued a copper export approval letter (SPE). In fact, until the end of 2024 Freeport is targeting the export of copper concentrates of up to 900,000 tons.

"Yes, Kepmennya (udah), tapi izin ekspornya belum. Masih dalam tahap finalisasi," ujar Tony kepada awak media yang dikutip Jumat, 21 Juni.
