Politicians Become Commissioners In BUMN, Special Staff Of The Minister Of SOEs: We Can't Be Munafik

JAKARTA - Special Staff (Staffsus) of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Arya Sinulingga opened his voice about Gerindra Party politicians and many of Prabowo Subianto's closest parties who became commissioners at state-owned companies.

Arya said that SOEs really need supervisors who have a political background.

Because, he said, decisions at state-owned companies are related to political elements.

"So it is also impossible for the political element, we cannot be hypocritical and we cannot justify if the political element is not included in the BUMN, as long as vital decisions regarding SOEs remain related to politics in the DPR," said Arya at the BUMN Ministry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, June 12.

A number of politicians from the Prabowo-Gibran camp have recently been appointed as commissioners of BUMN are Grace Natalie, Fuad Bawazier, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, and Condro Kirono.

Fuad took the position of President Commissioner of MIND ID, replacing Doni Monardo, who died on December 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, Simon occupied the seat of Komut Pertamina, replacing Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok who resigned on February 2, 2024.

Arya said the appointment of Fuad Bawazier and Simon Aloysius Mantiri was also due to the vacant position of president commissioner in the two companies.

"At MIND ID Komutnya, Doni Monardo, the deceased, died, empty. Pertamina Pak Ahok has resigned," he said.

Arya added that the placement of politicians in the position of Commissioner of SOEs is not only carried out at this time.

He said, in the reign of the 3rd President Bachruddin Jusuf or BJ Habibie until the era of the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) also did the same.

"From the beginning, SOEs exist, until today SOEs exist, there must be politics. Indeed, Mr. SBY's era was no political person? Indeed, during Gus Dur's time there were no political people? Indeed, Mr. BJ Habibie's era wasn't there? Mrs. Megawati didn't exist? All of them, even during Pak Jokowi's time before, "he said.

Although political backgrounds are not prohibited, said Arya, it does not mean that his party chooses an incompetent figure.

He ensured that the figure who occupied the commissioner chair had gone through a series of selection processes.

"We appointed a competent commissioner, and the process was there. There must be a process, fit and proper test, everything has a process, look for it according to its needs. Background, we take various backgrounds, that's what we take. So everything must be okay," he said.
