Keep Food Reserves, Bulog Serap 700,000 Tons Of Farmer's Rice Until June 2024

JAKARTA - The Public Company of the Logistics Affairs Agency (Perum Bulog) has absorbed nearly 700,000 tons of domestic farmers' products until June 2024.

The absorption is in order to maintain food reserves.

President Director of Perum Bulog Bayu Krisnamurthi as saying that in carrying out the task of holding and maintaining stocks, currently Bulog has an ideal stock of 1.8 million tons.

"In an effort to maintain stocks with this ideal volleyball, Bulog continues to prioritize the procurement of domestic grain/rice during the harvest season. Until now, the middle of June 2024 Bulog has," said Bayu in an official statement, Wednesday, June 12.

In addition, continued Bayu, Bulog also carried out the government's task of procuring rice from abroad.

Bulog received an import assignment with the issuance of an import permit of 3.6 million tons.

Furthermore, Bayu explained that from the assignment of 3.6 million tons, Bulog had realized the importation activity of 2 million tons through 26 ports throughout Indonesia and by prioritizing ports in non-production centers.

The Tanjung Priok Port, as the main and largest port in Indonesia, is also one of the ports for the entry of imported rice. From the beginning of the year to May 2024, there were dozens of ships that had been successfully dismantled at Tanjung Priok Port with a total of approximately 490,000 tons of rice, "explained Bayu.

Bayu said that until now the demolition had run smoothly, although from January to March there was indeed a long process of unloading ships because the rainfall was still high.

"However, the demolition process has been completed. Several cases of delay problems have also been resolved. So that currently there are no queues of rice ships at Tanjung Priok Port or rice truck queues in Jakarta's warehouse," said Bayu.

Currently, continued Bayu, Bulog is focusing on efforts to absorb grain or rice from domestic farmers, routine distribution of Food Assistance and SPHP as well as readiness ahead of Eid al-Adha.

"Bulog again received an additional assignment to distribute Rice Food Assistance for three months allocation for 22 million beneficiary families every month throughout Indonesia," he said.
