JAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia complained that the investment target in 2025 will increase, but the budget for his ministry has actually decreased.

He said the investment target listed in the 2025 Government Work Plan (RKP) was IDR 1,850 trillion to IDR 1,900 trillion.

"Our RKP in 2024 is IDR 1,850 trillion to IDR 1,900 trillion, that's our economic growth requirement of more than 5 percent," Bahlil said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 11.

Bahlil hopes that DPR members can summon Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and VAT Minister Suharso Monoarfa to explain the budget reduction.

He also requested that the RKP for the Ministry of Investment be corrected to Rp800 billion so that it can be realized in accordance with the budget received.

"I suggest to the leadership, we just revise the RKP from Rp1,850 trillion to Rp800 trillion, because that's the rationalization I made with my team. So I apologize, I don't want to make my staff a scapegoat in the meeting later," said Bahlil.

Bahlil said the investment target is to encourage exports and imports, support downstream products and create quality employment opportunities.

Bahlil's quality job is to have sufficient wages so that it can ensure the welfare of its employees.

"Because quality employment is one of the characteristics of a sufficient wage. If the UMR wage is good for labor-intensive, but we want to encourage quality growth," he said.

To get the target realized, Bahlil asked that the budget for the Ministry of Investment be increased.

With a budget that is not adequate, he said, it will be difficult to achieve the RKP that has been set by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency.

"The RKP is talking about the nominal figure and this affects our economic process in 2025. How can the investment target be increased by Rp1,850 trillion, the budget is lowered. From the target of Rp1,400 trillion in 2023 with a budget of more than Rp1.2 trillion, now the target is increased and the budget has decreased to more than Rp600 billion," concluded Bahlil.
