JAKARTA - Minister of BUMN-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir opened his voice about the issue of withdrawing Muhammadiyah funds from PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk.

He admitted that there had been no discussion from both parties.

"I haven't received a report either. I don't want to have polemics with issues. From Muhammadiyah and BSI have not spoken to me," he said when met at the DPR RI building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, June 7.

Even so, Erick is optimistic that there will be a solution to every problem.

Erick was also reluctant to comment much to avoid negative views.

"God willing, everything has a solution as long as we are also looking for a way together. There is no opinion that is compiled into one that is negative. I think it can be discussed. Just like Bank Muamalat and BTN, we want to be balanced because BSI's dominance is very good," he concluded.

For your information, the news of the withdrawal of funds began when the Muhammadiyah PP letter circulated on social media. Through Memo Muhammadiyah numbered 320/1.0/A/2024 which was issued on May 30, Muhammadiyah instructed to transfer funds from BSI to a number of Islamic banks.

The memo was signed by the Chairman of Muhmadiyah Agung Danarto and the Secretary of Muhammadiyah Muhammad Sayuti as a follow-up to a meeting with the leaders of PP Muhammadiyah and Muhammadiyah Business Amal regarding AUM's financial consolidation in Yogyakarta on May 26.

BSI management has also previously opened its voice regarding the news. BSI Corporate Secretary Wisnu Sunandar said that his party is committed to always serving and developing the people's economy, including through collaborative efforts with strategic partners and all stakeholders.

In particular, continued Wisnu, in an effort to develop micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"We are trying to become a modern and inclusive bank in providing services to the entire community, while still upholding sharia principles," said Wisnu in his statement, Wednesday, June 5.

Wisnu also said that BSI is always committed to meeting the expectations of all stakeholders by applying fair, balanced, and beneficial principles according to Islamic law.

"BSI will continue to strive to provide the best service and contribute to the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia," concluded Wisnu.
